A federal judge has sentenced an American man who used a popular erectile dysfunction drug, known as Viagra, to three years in prison for the death of his wife.
The man, John T. Jones, 55, was found dead at the scene of his crime in January of 2017. The case is being prosecuted by Judge John L. Spero.
In 2009, Jones was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder. In 2011, he was convicted of second-degree murder, sentenced to death, and fined $1.2 million. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 9, 2017.
The case is an extreme example of a government crackdown on an extremely vulnerable population. The judge, who is based in Johannesburg, ordered the death penalty against Jones in the second-degree murder case.
